Gianni Versace and Art

Art and fashion

GIANNI VERSACE AND ART explores the designer’s work as a major contribution to late twentieth-century visual culture. Original artworks, fashion, photography, objects and interviews reveal how he transformed artistic traditions, personal experiences and contemporary imagery into an aesthetic world of his own.

From the myths and visual language of Magna Graecia to his homes, art collection and collaborations with photographers, the exhibition traces the creation of Gianni Versace’s identity and public image. Classical art, the Bauhaus, Pop Art and the rise of the supermodel illuminate the close relationship between art, fashion, the body and surface in his work.

The exhibition is produced and curated by Karl von der Ahè and Saskia Lubnow of Dreamrealizer. Only originals from private international collections are shown. The exhibition is not official nor authorised or linked to Gianni Versace S.r.l. and/or to the Versace family.
