NEWS
20 YEARS OF EXHIBITIONS – “EVERY JOURNEY BEGINS WITH A DECISION”
In January 2005, our Director Alex Susanna took such a step —leaving his position as Director of the Ötzi Museum in Bolzano, Italy, to found Expona – Museum Exhibition Network. What began as an idea driven by passion and curiosity grew into a vision: creating a network for museums dedicated to the exchange and development of temporary exhibitions.
Our first projects focused on archaeology—a natural starting point for a company rooted in Italy. In the early years, our exhibitions were primarily presented across Europe. Over time, the growing international demand for high-profile exhibitions encouraged us to expand far beyond Europe.
Today, 20 years later, Expona has presented more than 120 exhibitions on five continents, spanning archaeology, cultural history, art, pop culture, and fashion.
Yet one thing has never changed: our passion for museums. After 20 years, we still believe deeply in bringing global exhibitions to life—together with museums, for museums. From the very beginning, we have loved connecting stories, collections, and audiences, creating meaningful cultural experiences that spark curiosity, dialogue, and wonder. We believe exhibitions have the power to inspire, connect, and transform.
Our heartfelt thanks go to all the museums, collectors, curators, and public and private institutions around the world who have trusted us and shared this remarkable journey.
Let us close with “Ad Multos Annos”—an ancient Latin expression meaning “May you have many years.”
Here’s to continuing this incredible journey together.
