The Large Argentinean Dinosaurs
The exhibition displays unique specimens from the collections of seven different leading Museums in Argentina. The project is supervised by the CONICET in Buenos Aires and the Dierector of the Museum in San Juan. The exhibition presents the whole story of the evolution of the specie until its extinction. Accompanied by a rigorous scientific plan, there are findings from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, from the pre-dinosaur Lagosuchus and the Eoraptor Lunensis (250.000.000 years old) to the Carnotaurus Sastrei (70.000.000 years old), together with a representation of the geology, the flora and fauna which was the natural habitat of the dinosaurs.
The exhibition is composed of 80 specimens from the different museum's collections, in which there are several originals, and shows the two largest dinosaurs in the world that have been discovered up until now: the herbivore Argentinosaurus Huinculensis (40 x 20 m) and the carnivore Giganotosaurus Carolini (14 x 9 m). There are also others of smaller dimensions, such as the baby Mussaurus Patagonicus (12 cm in length) and Eoraptor Lunensis (1 x 0.5 m). As an extra option, there is the possibility of incorporating other findings from other Patagonian museums. A future scientific collaboration with the hosting Museums is possible.
